Sulfur Filters

Sulfur filters are used to remove hydrogen sulfide (rotten egg smell) from water. Because they use a specialty type of carbon media, they have all of the benefits of a carbon filter, in addition to treating the hydrogen sulfide.

Benefits of a Sulfur Filter:

∙ no more rotten egg smell

∙ eliminates black staining caused by hydrogen sulfide

∙ simultaneously removes organic compounds and chemicals

🛈 How it Works

➤ untreated water enters through the inlet valve while in service

➤ Water flows down through the carbon media, pea gravel, and lower distributor

➤ contaminants are trapped in the media bed

➤ media can treat a set amount of water before regeneration cycle (self cleaning) is needed

➤ The filtered water flows up through the riser pipe

➤ filtered water exits through the outlet valve while in service

➤ dirty water is flushed out of the drain line during the regeneration cycle

➤ Regeneration schedule depends on water usage and water composition

Note: Catalytic carbon media should be changed (rebed) every 3-4 years, under typical conditions.

As part of our recommended annual maintenance procedure, we closely monitor catylitic carbon media and its effectiveness.

Sulfur can be tricky... If you smell sulfur on the cold water side of the plumbing, we'd be happy to help you remove the odor once and for all!
