iRON fILTERS

iRON FILTERS USE A CATALYTIC MEDIA TO REMOVE IRON FROM THE WATER. tHEY EXCEL AT REMOVING FERRIC (PRECIPITATED) IRON BUT, DEPENDING ON THE WATER CHEMISTRY, CAN STRUGGLE WITH REMOVING FERROUS (DISSOLVED) IRON. tO PRESERVE THE CATALYTIC COATING ON THE IRON MEDIA, THE PH OF THE WATER NEEDS TO BE MAINTAINED ABOVE 7.0.

Benefits of an Iron Filter:

∙ color, taste, and/or smell is improved

∙ reduces staining of fixtures and laundry

∙ prevents iron buildup in plumbing

∙ filters out manganese, as well

∙ our valves are Self cleaning and programmable

🛈 How it Works:

➤ untreated water enters through the inlet valve while in service

➤ water flows down through the iron media, aggregate (pea gravel), and lower distributor

➤ Iron particles are trapped in the media bed

➤ Media can treat a set amount of water before regeneration cycle (self cleaning) is needed

➤ The filtered water flows up through the riser pipe

➤ filtered water exits through the outlet valve while in service

➤ Iron is flushed out of the drain line during the regeneration cycle

➤ Regeneration schedule depends on water usage and water composition

NOTE: The specific iron media type, water chemistry, usage, etc., effect the life span of iron media. According to the manufacturer, you can expect to get 3-5 years out of iron media under ideal conditions.

As part of our recommended annual maintenance procedure, we closely monitor iron media. We have seen it last <1 year and over 10 years but, generally, we recommend replacing the media in the tank every 3-5 years.
