Asheville city water is under a boil advisory. What does that mean, exactly? Click Here to see what they say. Ultimately, Asheville city water customers are required to vigorously boil water for at least one minute before consuming it. That being said, many of us would still prefer not to consume, shower, or wash our hands with murky water. You may be wondering, do we have to boil the water? Here is our response:
There is a way to treat municipal water in your home, making it consumable without needing to boil the water. We sell the necessary filtration and treatment equipment needed to do so! However, due to the overwhelming demand for this equipment, we are recommending a plumber install the equipment, as our installation availability exceeds the length of time that this equipment will be in high demand. We have the equipment in stock and would love to help you make your water drinkable ASAP. "What equipment is needed and how much will it cost," you ask?
With a 0.2 micron One Series filter, followed by a 20" BB Carbon Block filter, followed by a UV Light, your household water will be drinkable, without having to boil it. This will cost you around $2,800 but the system will remain highly beneficial once the boil advisory ends. By changing the 0.2 micron filter to a Carbon Block filter (and removing the 20" BB CB filter), your household will continue to benefit from the taste and odor-eliminating capabilities of activated carbon, with much less frequent changes of the filter. That means no Chlorine taste!
HOW IT WORKS: See diagram above. Incoming water flows though the 0.2 micron filter, which removes turbidity (cloudiness), most microorganisms, particulate, etc. Then, the water passes through the 20" BB Carbon Block Filter which removes chemicals and volatile organic compounds (VOC's), leaving the water tasteless and odorless. The last step is Ultraviolet Light (UV) treatment, which eliminates any remaining microorganisms (bacteria, viruses, chlorine-resistant protozoa, etc.).
