You Never Know

FRANKLIN, NC-- An hour and twenty minutes away from our office, the morning of the installation had arrived. We opened the door to the pump house where filtration was to be installed on the main line coming from the well head, after the pressure tank. We immediately notice that the pipe we need to tie into is PVC and that there is no source of heat in the pump house. This is a recipe for disaster, and a disaster it was. The PVC pipe exiting the pressure tank, including the PVC main cutoff valve, had cracked and leaked.

Since the bursted pipes were located at the exact location where we needed to connect our pipes, we agreed to cut out the portion of the pipe that was cracked and replace it with ours, including a new valve. We were able to then complete the installation of their iron filter and 20"BB canister filter, with an agreement from the homeowner that someone will have to check the plumbing for leaks that we could not detect, and make sure there is a heater in the pump house to prevent freezing.

Crisis averted... we hope. The homeowner will be able to go live with the water to the house, checking for leaks along the way. We were able to verify there were no leaks up to the last valve, but no further. Either way, the customer was pleased and the installation was a success. Sometimes, you just never know what you'll find on install day!
