BURNSVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA - Due to Hurricane Helene, on Friday, September 27, 2024, many people were without power and water. This customer had city water that they were unable to use for an extended period of time. So, they had a well drilled and brought their water to our office to be tested. Their water was acidic (low pH), had some hardness, and colloidal iron (iron particles below 1 micron in size).

Based on the test results and this customer having a larger home, we recommended and installed a larger neutralizer, water softener, and a 10" BB canister with a 0.2 micron filter. Installing a neutralizer adds some hardness to the water and, in this case, there was already some hardness in the water - which is why a water softener was recommended with the neutralizer. Low pH causes metal fittings, plumbing, and fixtures to corrode over time and, when combined with low TDS, the water is extra aggressive because it wants to dissolve whatever it can.

Thankfully, we were able to treat the water before extensive damage could be done, drastically improve the water quality, and help another satisfied customer in Western North Carolina.
